Holy Spirit Fill Us Folks!

On saturday, i had my virgin experience of visiting an old folks' home - at the Missionaries of Charities!

Zion's Joy, the youth music ministry i belong to, was there to interact, fold origami, and sing with/to the folks.

And it was an unexpectedly cold start i got off to!

My standard procedure upon approaching an old folks was to immediately ask, 'Hullo uncle/aunty, do you speak english?' - in english, then in mandarin, then in teochew (dialect) as the last resort, exhausting my limited span of languages in an attempt to engage in the introductory stages of conversation with the folks.

However, all that greeted me were blank stares when i approached my first two folks!

Haha... i felt so helpless!

Subsequently i continually pleaded the Holy Spirit to fill me with wisdom and knowledge so i could administer in a manner that befits my charisms.

But just as how Peter and the other disciples were filled with the Holy Spirit in Acts 2:4, 8 (and in many other instances), so there i was, and there the entire community of ZJ was, being filled abundantly with the Holy Spirit, spending time with the folks with such grace.

And thus, each member of ZJ demonstrated REAL-TIME to me the very essence of worship - leading worship as way of life!

Worship is being a listening ear to an old folk.

Worship is SMSing my friend who has an exam paper the next day to say 'Drink more water before you sleep so you will wake up alert.'

Worship is saying 'Good Night' to my parents before i sleep.

Worship is even simply, just a smile and a nod to the KFC worker who is trying rigorously to give out all the KFC discount coupons in her hands at Heartland Mall.

The photo immediately above depicts my favourite aunty at the home because none of us from ZJ - even the best of Mervyn Lek or mature Nicholas - could get through to her! But somehow, i still feel happy for her because she has a profound presence about her that seems to fill her (and me) with peace, rising above the storms of her, perhaps, traumatic memories of the past. She absolutely and resolutely remains unaffected and unconcerned of all the noise and activities around her.

i love the first pic.
That lovely lady, truly fearfully and wonderfull made!
That charming smile and enchanting gaze..How time seems to freeze!

And the most beautiful of all was that i feel she saw beyond the paper cranes, the magic show, presents and all, but the sharing of that moment in time..just being there with her, to share, laugh, to hold her hand..

indeed there are many other things more impt than mere studies and exams..

Argh! regret i wasn't there.Alrite..confirm! no more exam breaks and dichotonomy next time! not even 1 week!

Don't frown..cos you never know who's falling in love with your smile..

aye dan my fellow romantic!
heh your last line - "don't frown cos you never know who's falling in love with your smile.." - was exactly what my friend told me last year when i was prone to crying fits.

only it's used in a different context here, but i still like to hold fast to that line. :)
