Into Marvellous Light (3)!

At the Tanjung Balai mission preparation session three weeks ago, Brother Jude said, 'Be prepared to go over there (Tanjung Balai, Karimun Islands, Indonesia) to learn how to be better Christians from the locals you will meet.'

I was wondering what he really meant.

However, as i was at Tanjung Balai, I experienced so much love and hospitality emanating from the local communities at St Joseph School, Immanuel School and the St Anthony's Community that i have to agree with Brother Jude.

The local youths, sisters and adults who took care of us and interacted with us were extremely ready to smile, try their best to overcome the language barrier in taking the initiative to communicate with us, and always ready to serve Christ by serving others before self.

In their simple manners and gestures, like making sure that most Singaporeans have been served dinner before they proceed to serve themselves with the leftover food, the people from Balai have reminded me the importance of putting others before myself, to love the people around me with all my heart.

To me, they have been the 'light on the hill' (Matt 5:14,16 - refer to Rhino 7's post) who were a true imitation of Christ.

Dear Lord, please always be the light of my life wherever i may go - and shine your directing grace to the paths where you will lead me to.
