Jule's Fine wine doctrine

Hi peeps!

One more day to my last paper!..haha! Jiayou for those who are still busy mugging! That means that i'll add to the list of people to storm heaven with superprayers!

Anyway..was just chatting with Jules from Amplify on Msn and she came up with this divinely inspired analogy which i shall share..hee

J: i got this theory that the Lord is aging each of us like fine wine in spirit (pun intended), u know how wine has to be aged in oak barrels for like 20 years on end before it becomes "good" wine.
So it starts with us being young baby grapes

D: Sour grapes? *sorry..just being my corny self

J: (totally oblivious to my comment) and then God has to peel away the layers of skin, mash us up good and proper and it'll hurt like mad. but when the true essence which is the Holy Spirit in us (another pun) has been extracted, then the real maturing process begins..

D: maturing = fermenting?

J: (selective hearing again) ... when God puts us into His oak barrels. It's going to be a looooooooooooooong drawn process ...and we might be tempted halfway to wonder, "when is God going to be done with me?"

but we must always keep the goal/prize in sight that when God is finally done with us, we shall be the best Bordeaux in his cellar!

D: amen!...that's a lovely analogy!

J: it just popped out of nowhere.. divine inspiration!

Yes! How nice right! heh...reminds me of my many analogies..which shall be another story for another time.. (E.g. the most impt part of the body one!..heh..Alison the nurse would know best! *wink!)

Peace out!

This poem is related to your post! Really strengthens and comforts me..
i'm fine wine in the making!! (:

It's in the valleys I grow

Sometimes life seems hard to bear
Full of sorrow, trouble and woe
It's then i remember
That it's in the valleys I grow

If I always stayed on the mountain top
And never experienced pain,
I would never appreciate God's love
And would be living in vain.

I have so much to learn
And my growth is very slow
Sometimes I need the mountain tops,
But it's in the valleys I grow.

I do not always understand
Why things happen as they do
But I am very sure of one thing.
My Lord will see me through

My little valleys are nothing
When I picture Christ on the cross
He went through the valley of death;
His victory was Satan's loss.

Forgive me Lord, for complaining
When I'm feeling so very low
Just give me a gentle reminder
That it's in the valleys I grow

Continue to strengthen me, Lord
And use my life each day
To share your love with others
And help them find their way.

Thank you for valleys, Lord
For this one thing I know
The mountain tops are glorious
But it's in the valleys I grow!

way to go, jules! and yeah, dan, you really are pretty corny on top of the profusion of exclamation marks.(sometimes!! but i suppose that's part of the personal charm?)

with jules talking about wine, and the recent ice-cream guys episode, it'd seem like i'm 'old'wine(but obviously nowhere near oak-aged bordeaux, that's up to God!)in new skin -what they expressly said would not be common-sensical to do!

anyway, just rambling... congrats on the end of exams! xl:)

whoa....u really synthesized my "doctrine" nicely Officer Dan! u've even put in happening pictures of wine bottles for added effect!

u know what it reminds me of? when those Taiwanese or HK singers go to Mediacorp Studios to sing for some variety program and they provide all these wallflower dancers to prance about doing damn corny actions, while the singer is doing his/her thang. i.e my "doctrine" is the canto-pop star and your pictures are the wallflower dancers!

just kidding! btw, it should be jules' not jule's lah...
