Christmas - a season of love
Happy new Year everyone!
Welcome to 2007! Wat a lovely no. that is...haha..(never mind me)
Anyway, just wanted to share abt the lil i learnt more about Christmas this season.
Well, Christmas has been, is and (i think will be) my fave time of the year! That special magic in the air, the cosy lights in homes of families having thanksgiving dinners, that festive mood of shoppers and ppl buying last min gifts, the angelic resound of carollers along the streets, singing of a great promise of a saviour king! the 'cooler' weather, (though this year it was really wet too) just makes one wanna snuggle up in bed, play some nice music and just soak in the Christmas atmosphere...
But then again, what is this Christmas atmosphere? My past relationships started around the yuletide season, so it was a fulfilment of finding love, of warm fuzziness, of spending quality time with loved ones...
How about Christmas for those who are single? - an inexplicable feeling of lonliness? of longing for a companion? of somehow feeling something's amiss? Yes, i felt that too. One day as i was reflecting, it dawned upon me that though Christmas is a season of love and joy and peace, the lonliness would be magnified for those who were old, lonely, outcast, without family, and worse of all, without a relationship with Jesus Christ, the entire reason for the season itself!
It's so strange, i don't think there's an English word to describe the feeling of anticipation, excitement, joy of awaiting Christmas, yet seeming that there's something amiss, some kinda unsettled feeling. Till at a retreat, i realised the message that God was trying to teach me all these years.
Christmas IS a season of love. My love, when i sent down my son to die for you so that you may live. Why look for love elsewhere when I am love. I'm the one who invented love, the only one who shows and gives love the way it was meant to be!
Only then did i realise that all these feelings of longing and unsettledness was a deeper calling in answer of God's love. That God was right! Christmas is indeed a promise of love! Not in the way i'd imagine it to be(some dream girl who would fall into my lap) for God's ways are not our ways!
"Dearest Jesus, thank You for coming to be with us. Our Emmanuel. I pray that your incarnation, your being born, would continue to take place in our lives, as we are moulded more and more in Your image and likeness. That You may continue to teach us and guide us as we celebrate the remaining days of Christmas!"
