Slow me down, Lord (2)

I refer to a really insightful and heartfelt post by a close friend :

Indeed, amidst the rush of deadlines at work, unceasing projects, presentations, essays, this mad flurry of activity is something i struggle with, and from some sharings(both face-face and from their blogs, a number of my friends struggle with as well. (be it adjusting to new life in hall and uni, moving onto new phases of life @ work, after NS back to sch, etc)

The homily by Fr Joseph really hit a home run that day: "If you're always so busy, where is any space for God!" "our God is so large that He fills the firmament and our God is also so small that He fits in my heart." I don't doubt He fits, but often, we make our God appear too big to fit into our "limited 24 hrs a day", "oh, i have a project meeting in the evening.." "i need to rest from that long day".. why is it that we allow God to be a mere event in our endless list of appointments in a schedule which even comes about because God created time!

It's hard to imagine that God gave us 24 hrs a day, yet we take the 24 hrs and start to ration that time with Him.

"Slow me down, Lord, that i may not see the mess of life, but Your touch and Your presence in it all... Like this gift of Your flower in a field of overgrown wild grass.."

For those of us who are struggling with an over-cluttered schedule, when life seems to be chasing you than you running your life, do not despair! It all begins with the awareness! (and indeed its a grace!) Thank God for making us feel tired, so tired that we can't seem to function the next day. Thank God for giving us that innate desire to have more time to ourselves(so that there'll be more time to turn to God as well). Thank God for the wonderful system of immunity in us that allows us to fall sick, feel pain when our bodies are less than well taken care of, the way we were meant to be.

Moving on, i really enjoy reading the entries of a friend, who thinks cos of his drawing to face a less-angsty side of him will see his blog being less enjoyable to read. But pal, if you're reading this, you indeed have a real talent for writing! Philosopher indeed. A wonderful knack for your analogies to make a profound lesson u learn on your less-than-rosy journey of life, and share it in a way relevant and heart-felt that relates to the masses.

this once again reminds me of the wonderful gift of technology and blogging, that these tools can be used for the glory of God! An online community of believers, people who love God and are trying to discover each day how much God loves them, and share about their struggles, weaknesses, and revelations as God reveals that lil more each step of the way.

Let's continue to embrace this new mode of evangelism, of making our religion relevant to the times, with one thing that doesn't change: a drawing and increasing love for our God. A calling to be different, to be set apart, to be counter-culture, to be Peculiar.

"But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light." - 1 Peter 2:9
