Unfailing Love

What is love? Who gives love? Who is love? - simple 3 worded questions which a multitude of words can never seem to describe nor explain...

Is love when we see a couple kissing, holding hands on the street, at the bus stop?

Is love when we see a Mother picking up a crying child and gently caressing his cheek telling him it's ok...

Do i see love when i see a 70+ yr old uncle/auntie working at Macdonalds, trying to make sense of the many buttons on the cashier, or working till 11pm at night at a foodcourt clearing up my finished plate of food as i chill out with my friends? That wrinkled face, tired limbs, still working way past most accountants / auditors whom we consider hardworking?

Well, through my experiences, my lovely parents, my brother Joel, my rhino brothers, my spiritual kakis n mentor, my community in Zion's Joy, and also in my relationships, Godhas shown me a tiny, weeny bit, of what His love is for me..

Those times when my parents were worried sick when i did not call home when i was younger, my brother helping me out with the chores that he never did need to do, my friends accepting me for the (quite-horrible) person i can be, the times when my heart panged, ached in anticipation of a phonecall, or skipped a beat when i saw a smile on the face of my loved one...

my my...i can't imagine, how when i think of God, call upon His name, the magnified response of His love would be like.. That His heart would too, skip a beat when i turn to Him, in thanksgiving or in tears, at mass or when i turn in to bed. That He longs to speak to me, the same way i would long to speak to my loved ones...

Well, just a lil earlier, i was clearing up some email and i saw a friendster update, so being the (itchy-finger tt i am), logged in, and "CHANCED" upon the profile of my ex-girlfriend. After the whirlwind of events that has elapsed since, i know as truth, that it was the best thing that happened to me. ("And in all things, God works for the good of those who love Him.." Rom 8:28) Still, there was an aching in my heart, which i can't explain why.. I like an analogy a close friend of mine gave..it's like rheumatism when it rains..ha. seems funny, but it's real. I totally understand when a brother of mine shares with me bout seeing the weird msn nicks his ex now carries, and its like..urgh..not a sobbing hurt, but a myriad of emotions. Quite indescribable..

I can't help but imagine how God must feel when so many of us in this world rejects His love, which He pours out so much more than we can ever give, even imagine! I once heard a preacher say that God's heart is one with many holes. Because when He loves, He gives us a piece of His heart, and also a free will to choose to return that love, to keep it, to reject it or not even realise that we have it.

Thank you Clem, for introducing this lovely song to me a few days ago when we had a time of worship together, and for incessantly humming the tune and strumming it on the guitar at every opportunity.

"Almighty God and Father, i just want to sing this song back to You, for your unfailing love for me, for giving me all these experiences that all circle back to You. You are the song that i sing."
